Plug’n Drive Partners with SWTCH to Launch New National Home EV Charging Program – Plug’n Drive Canada

Canadian Homeowners Can Access Free Level 2 Chargers and Earn Cash Back Through Clean Fuels Regulation

TORONTO, ON – December 11, 2025 – Plug’n Drive is proud to announce its partnership with SWTCH Energy on a new nationwide Home Charging Program that provides single-family homeowners with a free Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charger and the opportunity to earn cash back every time they charge at home.

The program marks Plug’n Drive and SWTCH’s collaborative efforts to accelerate EV adoption across Canada. By leveraging the federal Clean Fuels Regulation (CFR) Carbon Credit program, the initiative rewards homeowners for using clean, low-carbon electricity to charge their vehicles—turning everyday home charging into measurable environmental benefit.

“Access to convenient and affordable home charging is one of the biggest accelerators of EV adoption,” said Cara Clairman, President and CEO of Plug’n Drive. “SWTCH’s program is a great example of how innovative approaches can help Canadian homeowners reduce barriers and lower the cost of installing home charging. By supporting EV charging programs, Plug’n Drive is helping more drivers make the switch to electric with confidence.”

Through the program, participants receive a free Level 2 charger and can earn 3 cents per kilowatt-hour of home charging—estimated to be about $100 to $150 annually for the average EV driver. The chargers are also eligible for additional utility incentives, such as BC Hydro and Roulez Vert rebates, helping to further reduce installation costs when working with a licensed electrical contractor.

“SWTCH is doing our part to make the switch to electric easier and more rewarding for Canadians,” said Carter Li, CEO of SWTCH. “By building the infrastructure and business model to turn home charging into carbon credits, we’re giving homeowners a way to earn money while helping accelerate EV adoption nationwide.”

Homeowners who own or plan to purchase an EV can participate by:

  1. Sign up and order a free Level 2 charger through the SWTCH Home Charging Program store.
  2. Have the charger installed at their home.
  3. Use the SWTCH Home Charging Programapp to connect the charger to their home WiFi and the SWTCH network, activating their earning profile.
  4. Begin earning cash back for every kWh charged. Once an account has accumulated $100, participants will receive that amount as a direct deposit into their bank account.

The program is free to join—with no monthly or annual fees—for single-family homeowners who currently own an EV or are planning to purchase one in Canada.
